Selection bias or measurement bias?
Students separate bias that happens when the sample is CHOSEN from bias that happens when the data is COLLECTED, dragging each scenario into one of two zones. The first half of Sean's bias work, and the distinction the eight named types hang on.
Which kind of measurement bias?
The other half: the sample may be fine, but the answers are pushed off true. Students name response bias, question wording, interviewer effect, or a faulty instrument. Scenarios and explanations are Sean's.
Which kind of selection bias?
Once students know the bias came from HOW the sample was chosen, they name which of the four selection biases it is: undercoverage, convenience, voluntary response, or nonresponse. Scenarios and explanations are Sean's.
Which sampling method?
Six methods in a three-by-two grid: simple random, systematic, stratified, cluster, convenience and voluntary response. Students read how the sample was drawn and place it. Sean's scenarios, hints and explanations throughout.
